Our History
Founded in 1972 by Mr. Juan Mayol Garrido as Tecniplast, S.A., the company started it's operations with the manufacturing of inyected plastic products.
After obtaining a very high market share during the first year of operation, the company diversifies and by the end of 1973 instals a flexible packing manufacturing plant. This division produced flexible packings of the highest quality right from the start, with the competitive advantage of having the most advanced technology of the industry in the processes of extrussion, printing and conversion, as well as the most advanced technology of the time in it's pre-press works for 6 colors flexographic printing.
In 1977 Tecniplast, S. A. continues it's expansion and diversification process with the adquisition of "Envases Plásticos, S.A.", a company with a high market share in the thermo plastic products industry, it's line of products included plastic glasses and trays.
In 1979 the capabilities of all three divisions of manufacturing (Inyection, Thermoforming and Flexible), increased at a 100% rate, allowing the company to maintain it's leading market share in plastic products during the next decade. It also became the first "Green" company in the Caribbean by installing the first plastic cecycling plant.
Some of the achievements made by Tecniplast, S. A. and it's group of companies during the 1980's decade were:
- The shift from wooden to plastic boxes for bottling companies and agricultural industries.
- Introducción of thermo-shrinking polyethylene for bottling companies.
- Introduction of plastic containers in replacement of carton for the milk industry.
These and more developments were achieved with the purpose of bringin more efficiency, lower the costs and increasing the life of our customer's products.
By the middle of the 1990's the company decides to go back to it's core business by selling it's Inyection and Thermo Forming divissions. This decision allowed the company to focus on it's strenght: flexible packing and it's printing with the specific aim to the industrial sector, since the company was leading the niche ever since the beguinning.
The company then decided to change t's name and adopt the brand name of it's flexible products: Plasticos del Caribe, S. A. A company solely dedicated to the manufacturing of plastic flexible packings.
Since 1998, Plásticos del Caribe, S. A. has been growing year after year by adding new producction lines with the most advanced technology to offer the best service and the highest quality available in the industry for local and international customers.
Today, Plasticos del Caribe, S. A. is the leading company in the flexible placking industry in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, and it's regarded among the most competitive companies Central America. We are experts serving national and international customers, who are leading their respective markets.
Our company remains private, with all of it's assets being owned by the Mayol-Vicioso family. We are a team of 180 professionals dedicated to the manufacturing of flexible packing with the most advanced technology available. We employ multi layer coextruders, high quality flexographic, gearless printing machines, pre-press digital systems, laminators, cutting machines and heavy duty converting machines, all of those featuring the latest generation technology.
